The city was one of four Platinum Award winners in AAA's annual Community Traffic Safety Awards luncheon held at The Carltun in East Meadow, N.Y. MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. Two Mount Vernon residents remain displaced after a quick moving, three-alarm fire tore through a mixed-use building on Friday night. 66th Annual Westchester County Cheerleading Invitational At County Center

In the first year of competition since being designated an interscholastic, competitive sport in New York State, more than 1,000 cheerleaders representing high schools and middle schools from Westchester and surrounding counties will vie for top honors during the 66th Annual Westchester County Cheerleading Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, November 17 and 18, at the Westchester County Center in White Plains. Both middle school and junior varsity competitions will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, with junior varsity at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Joe DeLorenzo, president of White Plains, N.Y.-based Alpha One Marketing Co./Krasdale Foods, died Nov. 12. He was 64. A two-time president of the Short Hills, N.J.-based Eastern Produce Council, DeLorenzo grew up in the retail produce industry, said John McAleavey, the council's executive director.
