Doyle was born Sept. 25, 1927, in the Bronx, to Margaret and Thomas J. Fox. She graduated as valedictorian of the class of 1944 from St. Mary's High School in Katonah and with the assistance of a full scholarship went on to Good Counsel College in White Plains.
