During a recent fire that emergency personnel tackled on Liberty Street, a pair of White Plains police officers saved an 84-year-old occupant by carrying him to safety, according to the White Plains Police Benevolent Association. Officers Joseph Garafolo and Anthony Carra are being praised by the department for their quick, heroic actions to save the man, who was having difficulty getting out of the building through the smoke.
